Fourth Term

It is crazy to think that we are well into the fourth term of the year.

It is so special to watch and see how much the children have grown and developed over the year.

The Parshios of each week have kept us very busy. They are filled with wonderful stories that the children have been drinking up!!!! Our crafts have been based on each week's Parsha. They have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about Avraham and Sarah!!!!!

We have concentrated on the wonderful Midos that Avraham showed, Hachnosas Orchim and doing whatever Hashem asked of him!!!
The children have been drawing pictures of different ideas related to each Parsha and I am sure you are getting a lot of nachas seeing how much their drawing skills have improved!!!!!!

We are now working on assessments working towards our end-of-year reports.

We are going to start rehearsing for our end-of-year interactive Chanuka morning which will PG take place on the 30th of November. Make sure to diarize the date!!!!!

Looking forward to sharing more nachas with you!!!!!!!

What a busy term we are having.
The other day we read a book called The Topsy Turvey's which the children thoroughly enjoyed. We decided to have some fun with this and the children each drew a topsy turvey picture.

Here Yakira drew the head in the middle of the body.

Shalom drew arms coming out the head and hair coming out the body! All the pictures were really creative.
In last weeks Parsha we learned about Kosher. Here we discussed that a fish needs fins and scales to be kosher.
Aaron acts out one of the signs for an animal to be kosher- it needs to chew its cud. The other sign is it needs to have split hooves.

It is hard to believe that we are already nearly half way through the school year. It is amazing to observe how much the children have grown and developed!!

We have still been very busy with our assessments for Parents Interviews which will PG take place next Wednesday the 9th of June between 2:00 and 6:00. If you ahve not already chosen a time slot, please do so by filling your name in on the form hanging on our classroom door. The interviews will each take 15 minutes and if there is anything you wish to discuss or questions you would like to ask, please come to the interview with them so that we do not run overtime. If you feel there is something that you would like to discuss that will take longer than that, please contact me to arrange another time to meet.

The children are all very excited with the upcoming World Cup and we have continued discusssing our country and talking about Hachnosas Orchim, welcoming guests to our country. We have also been talking about Achdus and being unified.

As the weather has turned really cold, please ensure that your children come to school dressed warmly. TG our classroom is very warm but the children need an extra layer to put on for when we go outside to play.

Looking forward to seeing you at Parents Interviews next week PG.

Hve a wonderful week!!!!

Welcome back to the Second term!!!!

It is hard to believe that Pesach is already so far behind us as we move forward towards Lag Ba'Omer and then of course Shavuos!!!

We are concentrating on the stories of Rabbi Akiva and Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai in connection with Lag Ba'Omer. During one of first rings learning about Rabbi Akiva, the children were asked what shepards do, to which some of the children answered,"they shep!!!!"

We have done some crafts relating to Lag Ba'Omer and of course count the Omer every day, adding a new flower to "Har Sinai" when we do so. We have discussed what is prohibited to do during the Omer.

In connection to the Omer we are also concentrating on numbers this term. We are learning to recognise numbers and explaining basic number concepts.

We will also be concentrating on Body Image this term. We have already moved on from drawing just faces to now drawing faces with bodies and arms and legs. We are almost all drawing arms and legs coming out of our body and not our head now...a wonderful accomplishment!!! Please remember to look at the children's work in their individual folders on the wall ,as they are updated constantly!!!

We have also been drawing beautiful pictures of Har Sinai with flowers!!!

Autumn and the seasons is also on our agenda and we have had lots of fun discussing what activities can be done in each season!!!

We are working on our cutting and tracing skills too. The children traced their arrows for Lag Ba'Omer and then cut them out themselves, all doing as great job, before painting them!!!

We had a really exciting Aleph Bais treasure Hunt(see Pictures)!!!!
We have begun more formal Aleph Bais learning where the children will learn the letters in a one-on-one with me from a book and we look forward to moving forward at a steady pace PG!!!

As you can see we are very busy and having a really fun time at school, and we have not even mentioned soccer-fever which has hit our class. The children(especially the boys)love taking the soccer ball out during outside time and enjoy kicking (and throwing) the ball!!!! We will be beginning our "Soccer" Project soon, incorporating it into the concept of Ahavas Yisroel and how all different countries will come together to play together etc.!!!

Looking forward to hearing your feedback and if there is anything you need to discuss, please feel free to contact me!!!

Morah Nadine.

Aleph Bais treasure hunt!!!!

This week, we had a very special treasure hunt inorder to introduce Aleph Bais in a more formal way. The letters of the Aleph Bais were put into a box and the children went on a treasure hunt to find the box!!!

Yay.....we found it!!!!!

This is the page that we drizzled honey on to!!!

We then opened the box and found all the letters of the Aleph Bais which we laid out on the floor while singing Aleph Bais songs.

We then drizzled honey over the letters on a page and the children each got their own stick to come and dip into the honey, and to taste how sweet the Aleph Bais is!!!!!
